I'm new here !!!
Good Afternoon & Happy Spring everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself here because DH and I have been looking to start a family so here is my background:
I'll be 33 years old soon and I have an irregular cycle about 44 days. In 2011, it was mostly 34-40 days but I've always been irregular.
I had a sonohystergram in Nov. which revealed a polyp. I had it removed and it was sent for a biopsy and all clear. After that, I went for my bloodwork and also all clear. OB/GYN saw no concerns.
Jan. we started trying again but weren't really timing it. The first week of april I experienced some spotting and I thought it was implantation. Then on 4/27 AF came. So now I bought the First Response OPK. It says if AF is usually 35 days or more begin testing 3 days after it finishes. Wouldn't that be a little early for me??
I just started testing on Sunday because I did a few online Ovulation calculators and they were all consistent that Memorial day weekend would be my fertile time.
Has anyone else used the First Response OPK? Do you find the online ovulation prediction calandars accurate?
Thanks for all the info. and advice.

Re: I'm new here !!!
I have an app on my phone that I use to keep track of my cycle. This was my first cycle using the CB OPK's along with some internet cheapies. My tracker said I would ovulate on a thursday...and instead of Oing that day my came up on thursday at night...which means I most likely O'd on friday. So mine wasn't too far off....but that isn't to say that is the same for everyone. I know some girls said theirs was totally off...so I guess it depends on the person.

Re: I'm new here !!!
Welcome! I wish I could help, but DH and I haven't officially started BDing yet. I'm waiting to see how long my cycle is before that... like you I'm also ridiculously irregular.
I think I'd purchase the internet cheapies or you can honestly buy some at the dollar store. All my girlfriends have purchased them there, and they've worked just the same.

Thank you so much. I just hope that being irregular is nothing too concerning when ttc do you think? Since I got myself checked out and the Dr does not have Any concerns after all is done, then I guess I should be fine.
What's the name of the brand at the $ store?

Re: I'm new here !!!
welcome to the boards! I also have really long cycles that seem to only be getting longer They started at 32 days, then went to 35, 37, 35 etc. So what I can say if you start using an opk 3 days after AF you will go through a ton of them! I would suggest starting around CD 16 or so but thats just me.
Personally, the online calculators do not work for me. It seems most of them assume you ovulate on the exact halfway point in your cycle. Of course there is a chance that you do ovulate then but its not always accurate. I would def use the opks to get a better idea of your cycle and then you can enter the data into whatever program you use and it should update your cycles so you have a better idea for next month.
good luck!!!

Re: I'm new here !!!
Thank you. This morning I believe I felt some EWCM so does.that mean I'm ov now or getting ready to? The opk did not predict the LH surge when I tested last night.

ok so i looked at your post again... your last period started on 4/27 (with a 35 day cycle your next period is fue 6/1)....so that means you are at CD21 right now...which means you should ovulate any day now (my guess is you will ovulate between now and Tuesday). It is odd that the ovulation calculators are saying your fertile time is memorial day weekend bc that would be less than a week before your period is due again and you should have a luteal phase of at least 10/12 days. Keep testing with the opks....the ewcm is a sign of ovulation occurring soon i believe.

My cycle has been 44 days, not 35. which is probably how memorial weekend is my estimated o date.

Re: I'm new here !!!
Welcome and good luck. Honestly I think your best bet is to temp and use OPKs. I use the CBE ones with the because I just find them easier to use than reading a line but I know alot of girls on here like different things. Plus the digitals are EXPENSIVE!
Hopefully your stay here is short!

Thank you for the wonderful wishes. I'm continuing my daily testing as we speak. Someone also recommended the fertility watch. She tried for 2 years then got prego as soon as she got the watch.

Re: I'm new here !!!
I would buy cheapie OPKs and this month test 2 times a day for 2 weeks to catch your surge. Then if it doesn't work out for you this month, you'll have a better idea of when to start testing next month. I hope it works for you now though!!!

Sorry, I didn't see this before. I honestly don't know how my cycles are going to be. I just stopped taking BC last month. Trying to see how many cd i have and what perhaps next month will bring. My girlfriends say that you can purchase them at most dollar stores. I haven't come across any, but then again... I hasven't been looking. Some girls also buy online.
