hardwood flooring and kitchen help- Please
Ok- hubby and i have been on a roller coaster ride with our house. we are at the point where we are looking at kitchen cabinets, flooring etc.
while i always said id like a cherry kitchen, i fell in love with a sample kitchen at a place we went to that had an espresso colored cabinet with a creamy/light colored granite, and creamy colored tile for the floor.
after showing the sample (on a lousy cell phone picture) to family members, they all said "i think its trendy, modern, not you guys, and besides, what are you going to do with the floor?"
we have a split level home, and put a "great room" extension on the back. the entire house will have hardwood flooring, except for the 'working' area of the kitchen. the 'eating' area will have hardwood floor, because it's part of the extension.
So, with the cherry colored cabinets, i figured a cherry stained floor for the whole house but i almost think its so typical. With the darker cabinets, i figured a darker colored floor, but hubby is against the dark combo, sayingi t will make the whole house dark. Now, we have high ceilings in the living room and extension part, so i feel like a darker (not Super dark) will be ok, especially since we are going to paint the mouldings and window trims.
So please help me out- what would you guys do? can anyone help me and post pictures of the transition between a tiled kitchen floor/cabinetry and adjacent hardwood flooring? especially if you have a great room concept in your house?
thanks so much
