Hardwood flooring in kitchen?
We are int he process of buying and renovating a new home. The kitchen will be completely gutted down to the floor. While I LOVE the look of hardwood flooring in the kitchen, is it practical? We have 2 small children and I can picture crumbs, etc. between the floorboards. Also, the den and dining room are connected to the kitchen on either side- both rooms have different hardwoods (size, color, and style). We are not up for changing either of those rooms.
I can't find a tile that I'm crazy about : (

we have hardwood floors in our kitchen and there is no room between the floor boards- they are sealed so no problems
I love the floor and its totally practical for us- no cleaning tile grout, its easier on your feet and its easy to clean
I know some people are concerned about water damage because of the kitchen- we had a bad leak from our washer last year and the floor was covered in water and the floor had no damage

My sister has pergo in her kitchen and loves it. I have to say its pretty durable and handles her 3 young boys as well as pretty easy to clean.

Our new house has it. Its been there a while and looks fine to me. We aren't changing it.

We have hardwoods throughout the whole house except the bathrooms. We love it. No problems with it at all. Hardwoods are sealed, so there would be no crumbs in between the planks. Easier on your feet.
