Disability Question?
Do you think a doctor would put a patient out on disability without a real medical reason???
I only have 8 weeks of work left, AND i only work 3 days a week..but my work days consist of waking up at 5am..and walking in the door at 7pm...i commute to manhattan and also have to drop off and pick up DS. I still have very severe pain "down below"..and it intensifies when i do all that commuting....
Should i bother asking my obgyn or will she laugh at me? Just looking to maybe stop working in 4 more weeks, instead of 8.

Re: Disability Question?
That must be really tough I am not sure about Dr's orders for not commuting, but my friend who commutes from Suffolk to NYC stopped commuting 4 weeks before...it was really getting to her. She was able to "work from home" occasionally to avoid starting any benefits until her baby was born.

Re: Disability Question?
Depends on the Dr.
I had 2 OBs and the first one said very early we would talk when it got closer to the end. I left that Dr at 24 weeks
My 2nd Dr pulled me out for medical reasons so I never had to even have the discussion but I'm not sure I would have even asked.
I commute intot he city too and while it wasn't fun I hated staying home. I was dyign to go back to work just to be able to get out of the house.

Re: Disability Question?
I say talk to your Dr, he or she is not going to laugh. Commuting is no joke and is incredibly uncomfortable... It really puts a strain on your body... I notice that when I get home after a day of commuting by train that my belly feels tight and Im just more uncomfortable... I started driving in and there are days I still have issues when I get home... And some days I work from home when Im feeling uncomfortable...
Is there anyway you can work from home?
If I got more uncomfortable or concerned about any health issues or pains I was having I would 100% talk to my Dr about getting a letter from her/him about going out earlier... The most important thing is your health and the health of your baby...
