Ugh. Names and Family
apparently do not mix. We found out early that we are having a boy (yah). However everytime we tell someone that we are; they say "you're not going to name is Joey Jr. are you?" Well, Joseph is my husbands name and we were really thinking about it. I think we are just telling family/friends from now on that we don't know yet....

Re: Ugh. Names and Family
I love Jr. names and I think that's a wonderful idea!!!
What you choose to name your child is NONE OF THEIR DANG BUSINESS and if they express their opinion and it's negative, it's even LESS of their business!!! Family especially should be extremely encouraging (ha ha as if that's ever the case).
Next time someone says that to you say "OMG, I'm so glad you suggested that!!! I just LOVE IT!!!!" and gush uncontrollably so they know not to say another negative word.
Congratulations on your little !!!!

Re: Ugh. Names and Family
I think it is so funny --- if you mention names to family before the baby is born they critique it and add their 2 cents in...
If you keep the name a secret during the pregnancy and they learn the name after the baby has been born they goosh over how perfect the name is!
Family is so crazy sometimes!

Yay for !!!!!
That's a bummer that someone would even say that when it could be a very real possibility. What's their problem??!!

Re: Ugh. Names and Family
This is the reason we aren't telling anyone the names we are even thinking about. It not worth the aggravation. Just tell everyone you won't choose a name until baby is born.

I'm going to do the same, just tell everyone I am not sure or we haven't figured it out yet. Pheesh everyone has an opinion!

Re: Ugh. Names and Family
I have a similar issue only it has to do with naming after deceased relatives. My husband has not had any babies born on his side of the family ever. All of his grandparents have since passed so we have 4 letters on his side alone. There have been several babies on my side so I thought all the grandparents were covered. WRONG! My mom says, well, my mother was never really named after. My brother used her mother's middle name not her first name so now I feel obligated to use my grandmother's first initial somewhere in my baby's first or middle name. It gets complicated.
