blood sugar was 53. doc said its fine. ??
Have gestational diabetes and take glyburide and just added one shoy of insulin at night. Last couple days 2hrs after breakfast sugars were is 60s and 50s. Shaking sweating ughhhhhs. Called my perinatologist who said I should NOT have any low blood sugar symptoms until below 50 and to stay on meds and when my body gets used to lower sugar levels I will feel fine. I can get goofy feeling in the 70s so want to do in 50s. I love my peri but is he right?? I have an appt w a new endocrinologist next week but in the meantime any feedback would be great!!!! Ty!!!
added...thanks for your replies... this is my perinatologist who i attribute keeping my baby soooo healthy that is scares me that i dont trust him on this now.
like i said i see a new endrinologist next week...but in the meantime what do i do? i am not going to stop the insulin and glyburide....so.....should i not wait two hours and test? i am supposed to eat...and 2 hrs later take sugar. thats when my numbers are low 60s and now 53. i cant call this doc anymore bc he obviously thinks the 50s are perfectly fine...so....??
sorry this has shaken my faith and i feel i cant do anything right. and i am afraid i am hurting the baby!!!

53 two hours after meals sounds WAY too low! I would definitely get a second opinion.

If you are sweating and shaking your body is telling you something is wrong. Im pretty sure 60 is considered *really* low.

ITA. I have GD and I was told by my nutrionist that my # shouldnt go lower than 70. 50's sounds too low to me..

I don't have GD but have a few family members who have diabetes 53 is low. I would call anothr dr and see what they say.
A few months back I took my grandma to the ER after she was shaking and talking nonsense her sugar was 47 and they dr said anything under 60 is low and could cause syptoms.
