If you installed central a/c...
How much did it cost?
What's the square footage and style of your home?
And most imp't, which company did it and would you recommend them?
I want to do it for my Massapequa home soon.
Thx!

Re: If you installed central a/c...
We had ours house done. However it was part of full dormer we put on and first floor remodel, so it was similar to new construction, all the walls and ceilings were open.
We did a 2 unit system, 2 seperate air handlers and 2 compressors outside one for each floor.
I'm a little surprised at the prices mentioned earlier in the thread. we had quotes that ranged a lot, but were from 10500-18000. However, that included running the ductwork, grills, both sets of units, thermostats, etc. it didn't include running electric to the airhandlers or compressors.
I was actually surprised at how much the prices ranged. The 18K was for premium equiptment, with "standard" stuff it was about 16500, but that was still expensive.
I recommend Apple Air in Seaford. they did a good job, were on the loewr end of the price scale, but not the cheapest.

I think the reason for the difference in Flynne Aire's price for us and what you got is that we didn't need the duct work etc. We literally need the units and that's it. I actually should have noted that their quote is for 13k but we'll be getting $ back in rebates which makes final cost a little over 9k. That is for energy efficient units. Cost after rebates for non-energy efficient are around 8k. We also got a quote of 7k to do a one zone system, rather than 2. Again, all of these quotes are for the machines only, no extra work. HTH!

We installed CAC in 2004 and used Meenan (our oil company at the time). We paid $5,400 for a high ranch (I guess 2,200 or so SF).
We were very happy with the install and so far we've had no problems with the unit whatsoever.
