I think so. When I used to highlight my hair, I liked doing thin ones, so they looked really natural, and just brightened me up.

BTW, I get my hair done at someone's house who is right near you, and she is really affordable! Let me know if you want her info.

Re: Are highlights still "in"?

Personally I think highlights are "out" unless they are very subtle. IMO it is not supposed to look like you have highlights when you get them done . Not a fan of that streaky chunky look

ITA with this, but I don't agree that highlights are out. I don't think they ever will go out of style though.

Exactly. I get mine done to not look like streaks and those chunky stripes- it looks more like my hair has depth and dimension to it and multiple tones and colors. I just dont' look good with total monochromatic hair- because my hair is fine and flat and has not depth

I agree. I think they can def make your hair look better if done right. For adding dimension. I know what you mean. Some people just make them very harsh looking which I'm not a fan ofChat Icon

I work in a salon and ombre highlights are very popular right now. The highlight starts half way down the hair so there is a darker root that blends to a lighter end. It is different and easy to maintain because it all ready has a root so u can grow it out or do it again if u like it.

I have seen this, but I can get the look much cheaper if I just let my highlights grow out for 3 months and don't go back and get them redone! Chat Icon

As a matter of fact, I usually end up rocking that look when I am short on time or cash to get to the salon.
Glad to know it's in style now

Do a google search for "ombre highlights" and a bunch of pictures show up.

It looks nice if the colors are close, but if it's to drastic it looks like the roots are growing out.

Re: Are highlights still "in"?

Oh wow just saw this post got bumped!

Well.. I'll update that I got regular highlights (not ombre, like some mentioned they are considering.. ) and I love it! Chat Icon

I've gotten tons of compliments so far! They're really subtle looking.... Depending on the lighting, you may not even notice! That's what I wanted though... nothing major.
