screen repair
Does anyone know where I can get a screen replaced for my sliding door? The screen we have is torn along the frame & some large holes in.the middle. We checked Andersen but our door is discontinued, so we can't replace the screen door.

Re: screen repair
It's pretty simple to replace the screen yourself. If it's a weird/discontinued size, that would be the easiest and cheapest solution. Just get a roll of screening, some new gasket if you need it, and one of those screen tools to make it a little easier.

Do I get it at home depot or lowes? I'm headed out without kids today, so I could tackle this.

I have the same issue as the OP and it seems the screen goes right into the frame, there is no gasket.

There should be a thin strip of rubber that holds the screening into the frame. It attaches it, and when it's wedged into the groove, it tightens the screen a bit, making a smoother finish. If the rubber is fine, you don't need to replace it, but since it's outside, it can age and deteriorate.

Re: screen repair
We were in the same situation and decided to try it ourself. It was totally easy! Make sure you get the tool that pushes in the gasket. It's so much easier to roll that over than try to push it in any other way. We ended up replacing all the screens in the house after

I def don't have that. I know exactly what you are talking about and my screen door (from the late 80s I believe) def does not have that!
