I hate apartment living
I have an idiot that lives above me that we have had issues with for the last 2 years. The housing had to even set up a mediation between us, the person who lives there, and the Board b/c of so many issues and the idiot neighbor didn't show up. The Board and housing claim they are working to resolve the issue.. 2 years and yet there is still problems!! I can't sleep half the time b/c of the noise, I have even missed work because I am exhausted and now have major anxiety every time I come home.
Now for the last 6-9 months a horrendous smell is in my apartment from a sewage pipe that has some how seeped into my wall. I have called 4 times to complain about it, each and every time they come, they claim its fixed and then it rains and my apartment is RANK for DAYS.
I pay for a 2 bedroom, I can barely utilize the 2nd room, you call the housing and they could care less. I have put in 3 requests to move to another apartment even if it means moving into a 1 bedroom and all I get is a run around.
Mind you I put up with it b/c our rent is cheap and the only way to ever have a house is to stay put for a little while longer and keep saving money.
I hate living in an apartment and I feel like my head is going to explode from the stupid stress b4 I can save enough for a house..
There is obviously no real point to this post other then me complaining, thank you for listening

Thanks Christine! I am trying to focus on why we are sticking it out. If we can hang in there we will have that house some day. I just hope I dont go crazy b4 then LOL =)

Are you sure you can't find a cheaper/combarable rent somewhere you will be happy!?

That seems like a terrible living situation.
I really really have been trying, everything is just so much money. Not to mention the cost of moving etc. I feel the housing owes me another apt. b/c there are PLENTY that don't have my issues, and I feel like In being forced to move when they could easily help me make things better. I am losing the energy to fight this fight and I know that's what they are counting on ya know. I have been in this apartment for 10 years, and never paid by rent a day late despite all the bs, ud think they'd have some compassion for my situation.
I am still looking tho, b/c if I am not comfortable in my own home, then really what is the point I guess.

If a sewage pipe seeped into your wall and hasn't been properly remedied, I would call the health department. Also, send EVERY request for repairs to the management certified mail, return receipt requested. Do nothing on the phone.

Yes I am finally learning to track every thing and save it. I know that I could win a case against them if it comes down to that, the entire situation is ridiculous!
I finally spoke to someone on the phone this morning who acknowledged that I am on the list for the next available apartment, lets see how long that takes.

Yup, do a rent strike. What kind of building is it? How big?
I'd also call 311 on them for not remedying the sewer leak. That's nasty!

I am def. going to call 311, I already have a past letter from them when I complained. I just keep stock piling this nonsense if I have to go to court. I am so tempted to not pay Marchs rent if something doesn't happen to fix this during February. I am afraid to not pay my rent b/c I hear it can affect my credit scrore. I feel like I cant win b/c no matter what --its my stress, my aggrivation, my money...

You can't just stop paying your rent. There is proper procedure you need to follow to withhold your rent. Failing to document and notify the LL properly can end up with you being evicted.
