Sometimes I hate living in Philly
Yeah yeah yeah, we won the world series... woohoo.
So good ol' Philly is having a parade today to celebrate. You'd think public transportation would have prepared itself for the mass influx of phillies fans from the 'burbs to the city.
But, true to form, they didn't, and yours truly waited over an HOUR for a train as they just kept whizzing by and by.
So, I flew in the white flag, drove back home, and I'm treating myself to a day off  Timed quite nicely, I might add, as today is my anniversary and hubby is home too

Awww philly.....I lived there until June. And I'm glad I'm outta there right now but I know so many people who are at that parade! Public transit in Philly is bad anyway, so I can just imagine how this all went!

i live not too far and work even closer... the office is a ghost-town... all my co-workers are in philly for the parade.

i live about a half hour away and the traffic around her is crazy. DH works in ardmore and it took him some time to get there. What a mess
I was watching the news last night and they said that public transportion was going to have delays from 1 to 2 hours long
well least you got the day off enjoy it

I hear you! My office is on Broad St. smack dab in the middle of the route. My 20 minute commute was an hour and PACKED!!
As I type this I'm sitting in my office listening to the screaming fans & honking horns. I can see the whole thing from the window in my office ...sooo hard to concentrate. Its cool to see everyone excited tho...but everyone is wondering why I'm not wearing Phillies red...I'm not telling them I'm a Yankees fan, I wanna make it out here alive
(P.S. I'm wearing black b/c I'm in mourning lol)

You work in Philly? Me too! I'm right off Broad too... above the Wanamaker buildilng. Considering the treacherous commute this AM, I don't even want to think how awful it will be for people trying to get home early to go trick or treating with their kids!  SO glad I stayed home
I keep very VERY quiet about my affiliation with the Mets

so many philly ladies on here!! I'm on the outskirts of Philly.. i dont' work though so i wasn't bothered by the parade.. i did get an email from my daughter's school last night reminding parents that in spite of the parade that school would still be in session and students were expected to be in attendance.. don't think many paid attention to that though.. my daughter told me of 5 students in her class of 20 would be absent today for the parade..

Congrats for sticking to your Yankee roots!!  Don't tell anyone untill Monday why you are in mourning. Just mention something about how great Chase Utley is and they will let the fact you are not wearing red pass.

Oohh..I know exactly where you are, I'm in the Atlantic Building right next to the Mirriam Theater. I just got back in from going to the parade...got dragged there by one of my co-workers...can we say BANANAS!! You would not believe the amount of beer cans & bottles littering the streets. I was trying to leave early b/c DH and I are going out of town today...we'll see how that goes
