If you temp, please help!
I decided to try temping for the first time this month. I ordered a new basal thermometer from amazon made by Fairhaven Health. I've only used the thermometer maybe 10 times and I'm already noticing unusual temps and when I retake my temp right away I get a different temp. This morning I took it several times just to see what I would get and I got 97.08 96.67 97.02 97.02 97.17
What should I record my temp as? Or should I discard today's temp and run out to get a new thermometer today? Any brand recommendations?
Thanks!

you shoudnt need a new thermometer, yours is brand new. always use the first temp of the morning.. it will change as you wake up. make sure to take your temp in the same exact spot of your mouth - different spaces in our mouth can vary a few degrees, there are "hot spots" etc. based on the temps you posted, i would stick with the first.

My temps vary more than that.
I am no expert I just started too, but I am told that if you wake up middle of the night, have a bad night sleep, don't take it the minute you are awake, get to hot at night... that these can all effect your temp.
Then as you wake up it varies. I have a problem on Mondays when DH gets up really early and I sort of wake up, but not really, my temps are always higher that day.
For now, until I have a good understanding of my cycle, I am going to rely on OPKs and just chart my temperature to learn.
I imagine others on this board with know better.

Oh I just realized you meant all those temps were in one day... yes I noticed that too. I just use whatever the first temp is.

I didn't know this, thank you! I was so tired that I'm sure I had the thermometer in different spots in my mouth each time.

the other key is to take it at the same time each day, before you lift your head offthe pillow. I have been doing it for months. Good luck..

Re: If you temp, please help!
While temping can be helpful for many girls the problem is soo many factors can affect it... it will change literally by the minute, the temp of your sleeping environment, how well you slept, the time.... so no I don't think you need to get a new thermometer.
