After going off of the pill...
is there any medical reason to wait? I know there has been some discussion and back and forth over it with theories regarding more likely to miscarry etc but is there any real medical proof? I was talking to someone who said their dr advised them to wait 2-3 months because it could cause miscarriage or birth defects! THAT I had never heard before. The thought of waiting 2 months is too much to bear!

My doc just said they "recommend" 2 months after coming off bc. I got pregnant with DD 1 month after.

Everything I read said that that's a myth. Even when I told my OB/GYN that I might be TTC soon (this was back on my last visit), she didn't say anything about waiting. From what I've seen it more just to help your body regulate so you know your cycles.

The only reason to wait is to give your cycle a chance to regulate and to have a better idea as to when you conceived. Your cycle can be all over the place after you come off the pill. My doctor said I could start trying right away and with #1, I got pregnant right after I came off the pill.

Thanks, thats what i thought. I stopped saturday night got AF tuesday am and im pretty regular on and off the pill so im hoping i O in 2 weeks and try then!

I went off my pill on 11-6 saw my Doc for my annual on 11-21 I told her I went off the pill and we were TTC she said it was completely ok. I ended up getting PG right away BFP on 11-24

i spoke to my dr about this and she said there is no medical reason to wait
people suggest waiting so that you can see what your cycle really is (can be 28, 35, 42 days etc)...this way you have a better idea of when you O and when to test.

I discussed this with my Dr at length. There is no medical reason to wait, nothing can harm the baby if you get pregnant. The chemicals come out of your system almost immediately (hence why you can get preg if you miss 2 pills). The only reason to wait is you to understand your body pretty much. I didn't wait... although I have yet to get a BFP anyway.

The dr said we can get preg right after coming off the pill and that it's perfectly safe. However, my periods have been extremely irregular since coming off which can happen. Good luck!

I have a ton of fertility issues but my doc put me on bcp before I started trying. Plus ppl who do ivf take bcp, so it must be safe! Gl
