Weight?

Anyone TTC overweight? I'm working on losing weight but at the same time I don't really want to wait anymore. I'd like to start trying next month but I'm nervous about potential complications. Any tips or words of wisdom would be appreciated.

I want to be in shape when we have one, but I'm getting older and don't want to wait anymore, so I'm working on both at the same time. I'm more committed now than ever

Re: Weight?

I'm overall healthy. I just had bloodwork done and it all looks good. No history of PCOS or hypothyroid. I have regular periods and O symptoms each month. I want to keep walking and eatting healthy and start ttc. It seems like people take a few cycles of ttc before they get pregnant anyway.

I'm about 75-100lbs overweight, and yet my bloodwork came up perfect. My dr just wants me to lose weight because he thinks that the extra body fat I have is what is causing me to not ovulate. idk, all I know is after thanksgiving, I'm going on a strict diet!

Re: Weight?

I just started doing myfitnesspal.com a little more stringently I like it bc it has a community feel. I'm doing a lower carb plus calories which I started today. I feel like if I'm going to make a lifestyle change I should do it now and not wait any longer. I do have a hypothyroid but am on meds for it.

Re: Weight?

I am about 20lbs overweight...I lost 20lbs before we TTCy. I am also taking thyroid meds...if you are TTC I would def consider getting healthier like cutting out caffiene or anything like that...the healthier you are the better, IMO...I am more on being healthy than the weight issue...you can be an unhealthy skinny girl or a healthy bigger girl

Re: Weight?

I am as well overweight, and had tried unsuccessfully for years to lose weight. Due to my trying to conceive, i found out why i always had such an issues- a brain tumor telling my body i was already pregnant. I run regularly and have really started watching my diet- not so hard anymore. Find something you enjoy doing, and it will be easier to stick with it.

Re: Weight?

Crashing..
I was and am overweight. About 80lbs too heavy for my taste. I am going on 8 months pregnant and have no Gestational Diabetes nor High Blood pressure (knock on wood). I tried dieting before TTC and actually gained weight! I am hypothyroid but it is under control through medication.
I have gained maybe 15lbs last I checked but I'm only 8 lbs over my pre-preganancy weight.

If there is one thing I do regret is being out of shape. I should have had some kind of workout/walking routine in place. Pregnancy takes a lot out of you and can do a number on your back.
But other than that, I would not wait for weight loss bc you dont know how long that will take.

Re: Weight?

Me. I am overweight and have found that there is very little on the internet. I'm scared that it will be really hard, not to mention all of the things to deal with once we do get pregnant. (not having that same experience as other girls ie baby bump)
I wish there was more support groups out there.

Re: Weight?

Chat Icon this was my biggest fear when i was pregnant with DS. I am overweight (considerably) be text book standards.

i had the perfect pregnancy. i only gained 16lbs (and ate what I wanted) never had high BP, perfect glucose test etc.

do not stress it. just be smart with all of your decisions and you will be OK.

Re: Weight?

Thank ladies for your support. As I've said I've had blood work done and checked the results out myself. No history of DM, PCOS, HTN or anything like that. I'm very regular and have been tracking on FF. I've been told my biggest obstacle is my weight as it will make it difficult to get pregnant as well as more uncomfortable once I'm pregnant.

I am however on antidepression medication which I'm currently being weaned off of. I'm not sure how long that will take.

I keep thinking I don't know how long it will take to lose weight and I don't know how long it will take to get Pg so I'm thinking of not waiting and discussing this the DH. As much as he wants to be a dad, he knows my weight is a concern for me and wants me be healthier before we try.

As soon as I'm off my meds I'd like to start trying.
