Crock Pot Experts please come in

I am using mine for the first time today and I read you are not supposed to open it and stir. Is this correct.

I am making a beef stew. I am in hour #5. Says it needs 8-10 hrs.

Can I stir at any point?

Since it heats at such a low temperature whenever you open the lid to check or stir it takes a while to heat back up again. So every time you open it keep in mind that it may take longer to cook.

You can turn it up to high to cut down on the time.

Should I just leave it? I dont want to mess anything up.

I always give it a stir once in a while or else it burns around the edges sometimes.

I start mine in the morning and if I go home for lunch I will open it and mix it up a little.... its fine... just don't do it more than 1 or 2 times and make it snappy!
