Newbie question

DH and I have decided to move up our TTC plans Chat Icon so i am getting off bcp at the end of this month so that i can have atleast 3 reg cycles before we TTC. question is, should i see my gyn (I saw her in Aug but didn't mention baby plans) or am i ok just taking pre natal vitamins and going with the flow? i wasn't sure whether there was anything else i should do to prepare my body. sorry for the stupid question, i'm a newbie to all this! and thank you in advance!

Re: Newbie question

i dont think there is a need to meet with your dr to talk about things unless you have specific concerns. I know for me, i have a lot of concerns bc i have hypothryriodism, hypertension etc etc etc so I want to speak with her to just go over things. but if you are healthy and have no specific concerns i say go for it!

Re: Newbie question

I was wondering the same thing when I started ttc last month. At my last checkup I had mentioned to my ob/gyn that DH and I would be trying soon and she said I should come in beforehand. However, since I don't have any health problems, I decided to just try on our own first for a few months and then if we weren't pregnant yet to see the doctor.

I agree w/everyone. Unless you have other medical concerns it should be ok to just stop BC on your own. I mentioned to my GYN that i wanted to start TTC at my last appointment; and she just suggested going of BC 2-3 months prior.

Re: Newbie question

I spoke to my OB in July and mentioned that we were probably going to be trying soon. He told me a prenatal was not necessary, & to take a multivitamin.

I have continued my multivitamin & have added an additional 400 mcg of folic acid (for a total of 800) since i have something that can deplete the folic acid in my body.
