relocation??

So it always crosses my mind that we just will not be able to afford the cost of living here in LI. DH and i do not make a bad salary together and do own here but the cost is incredible and i feel like once we have children we will not be able to actually enjoy anything as we will be struggling with all of the added costs.

Those of you that have relocated or researched this do you actually think it is worth it? (i.e. can you live more comfortably?) where did you go? We are thinking about possibly NC- DH could relocate as his company has an office in charlotte for just about the same salary as NY.

i didn't do this, but my cousin and his wife relocated a few years ago to a suburb outside of Houston. I went there to visit recently, and saw their house and I was in love.. they paid 250k for like, a huge custom built house... and they are making more money there than they were making here so its even better for them. they also just gave birth to a DD about 6 months ago and now feel they can provide their kids a life they couldn't have done if they stayed on LI.. it was a really tough decision for them since they are away from their family who live on LI but in the end it was the best decision for them in order to buy a nice house, start a family, pay off their loans, and live comfortably... i def would research different areas, look into possible job opportunities, and then make a decision from there.. good luck!
