Cruise- WWYD
We are planning a European Cruise for next September. I wanted to be away for our 2nd Anniversary. If we go the following week it will be $200 cheaper. I really wanted to be away for our anniversary but $200 can be an excursion for both of us.

Re: Cruise- WWYD
Are you using a travel agent? If so, maybe if you mention your dilemma & that it's your anniversary they'll give you some form of shipboard credit? If so, maybe it will make up some of that $200 difference & will make your decision easier. Our TA does this for us all the time so I hope that you have the same option
If you don't, then I'd probably go the following week...like you said, those excursions can be expensive!

I would go the week of my anniversary. $200 isn't enough for me to not go the week of my anniversary
Check cruisecompete.com maybe you can get a better price.

i wasn't going to use a travel agent- was going to book right trough Royal Caribbean. But maybe I should look into a TA. hmmmm!

Re: Cruise- WWYD
If the only difference was not being there on our actual anniversary I would probably just do the cheaper week

If nothing else, it's definitely worth looking into. The more we use our travel agent, the more they hook us up each trip. Last trip we each got $75 of shipboard credit ($150 total), plus champagne & fruit the day we sailed & chocolate covered strawberries 1/2 way into the voyage as a "thank you" for using them. They told us that we're each getting $100 of credit this trip + whatever else they decide to surprise us with & this is only our 3rd cruise using them (my ILs use them 2-3x a year & they get crazy perks!). We have a great agent who is always looking to hook us up. TA's aren't for everyone, but it couldn't hurt to see what they can do. Good luck!

Re: Cruise- WWYD
it depends. is the only difference $200? does your DH care?
if you went the following week, what would you do that day of your anniversary? maybe a nice dinner? or would you be annoyed that you werent already cruising.
if you do a nice dinner and then have a vacay to look fwd to, its like 2 celebrations in one

We used a TA for our Honeymoon cruise and he stunk! We got nothing- no upgrade- no onboard credit. So I figured this time we would just book ourselves.
Unless.... someone can refer a really good TA in Western Queens or Eastern Nassau.

J- DH doesnt really care one way or another. Our anniversary will land on a Tuesday so we would only be going out to eat. But then again, I just realized that we would be flying out on that Friday and that means its only 3 days later.
You know what, I think I will do the later cruise. We can still go out to eat on our anniversary and go away a few days later.
Thanks everyone!

Re: Cruise- WWYD
we were going to Europe for our 1 year anniversary next year; but i started pricing trips a month earlier and the prices were lower by almost $700! So we're going away 3 weeks before our actual anniversary. It's still our anniversary trip but we'll spend our actual anniversary here in NY at dinner.
