Morning! I thought of this last night while lying in bed......

What's your biggest fear of becoming a parent?

I'm a social worker and see kids that are neglected/abused/mistreated every single day, and as a result these kids are SO screwed up in their own behaviors and ways of thinking. My biggest fear since the day I started working at my agency is that I will screw my children up like some of these parents have. Everyone says I'm crazy, because if I'm actually even worried about that, it certainly won't happen. But the thought that my kids will be so screwed up because of me scares the hell out of me.

I can completely relate to that since I'm a teacher and see that stuff all the time too! I always come home and tell DH stories that end with "we will NOT be that type of parent!!"

I think my fear is not having enough money to do whatever we need to do with our kids.

This might sound selfish, but I'm scared to give up my freedom! Obviously, I want to be a mom, but what if I regret it? Oh god, that sounds horrible. I'm sorry.

being too pushy, or not being pushy enough. I'm not sure where the boundaries are.

I see how my dad was with my brother when he was younger. Always pushing him to do another sport, get a better grade, always one up-ing himself and never being proud of him for just doing a good job. Now they hate each other, and its just so sad.

But I also have a neighbor friend whose parent's never pushed her to succeed. They'd never ask her if she did homework, never bothered her about anything, and now she's having a hard time with drugs, finding a job, meeting a good guy- the list goes on. Her parent's never cared to set goals for her, so now she's still living at home (never moved out even at the age of 30), bouncing from one menial job to the next, and meets these horrible guys from bars and clubs. I feel so bad for her.

i'm scared to death that my children will grow up to hate me.

day care costs and juggling being a FTWM that also works a decent amount of overtime during quarters and year-end.

raising a child the way they should be raised but the child turns out bad anyway...that scares me. There are so many stories of parents who actually try to raise their children well but the kids turn out bad seeds anyway..

I'm already a parent so I guess my biggest fear (besides my child not being in excellent health) is being able to handle work, keeping a home plus a toddler and newborn. I get scared but then remember that I'm tough and I can handle it!
