Those who are in contract.. Hurricane Related
Are you worried about how your new house will be affected by this storm? Our new house is not located in the surge areas but it does have a deck, basement, and AG pool. I just hope nothing bad happens! If something does get damaged, it's still on the current homeowner's to fix it, right?

We're in contract, and very worried! but at least we aren't responsible for the damages, that would really suck!

Yes. You do not own the house at this point or any of the responsibility for damanges. It would fall under their insurance. Most likely the lawyers will have to workout the terms of the repairs or surrendering the insurance money to you upon purchase.

I NYS the risk of loss is on the seller but not in all states so check your contracts if you are not in NY.

Do you think we could arrange to see the house after the hurricane to check for damages? IF we wait until we close and they didn't fix the problems, if there are any, it would delay the closing.

Well I guess you would be able to check stuff out during the final walkthrough which is usually the day of closing, right?

We are in contract and I am so worried about the new house There is a HUGE dead tree in the front yard that I am praying will not fall. I wonder if we can get another inspection before we close just to make sure the roof is not leaking, etc?
