reflux/heart burn?!
My reflux and heart burn are out of control my dr I work for suggested zantac so I just bought it and it seems to help with the heart burn but the reflux is so bad. I drink water and i can barely swallow before its coming back up I notice its triggered by water but given my preterm labor history I MUST drink 64 oz of water a day and I'm very adamant about drinking at least that so I'm suffering big time. I just started the zantac yesterday does anyone know I'd that will help with the reflux? If not any suggestions?!

Re: reflux/heart burn?!
aren't heartburn and reflux the same thing? i just started with zantac this week also. I've been trying to take it before I eat and the 1 pill has been lasting me all day. I know the directions say you can take up to 2 within 24 hours. I hope it starts to kick in for you!!

I have very bad reflux (I have it when I'm not pregnant but it is horrific when I am). Plain water is very hard to take with reflux. Try flavored water or a different beverage. Also don't drink a lot at once, take small sips throughout the day. It's also important to stick to the reflux diet to keep it under control: No caffeine, no carbonated beverages, no citrus juices, tomato sauce, fatty fried foods....

Heart burn is he burn discomfort in your chest and reflux is when stuff actually.comes flying up like you regurgitate it . Either way they both stink good luck I hope the zantac helps you too!

Thanks Michelle. I'll have to try flavored water. I don't drink any thing but water and 1 8oz cup of decaf crystal light iced tea a day. And none of the other stuff you named thank god if I did I think I would die! My problem is I have to drink such a huge amount of water every day I don't know that its possible to keep it from coming back up!

Re: reflux/heart burn?!
I feel your pain... Not that this completely helps me, but this is what i do. im 25w with twins and it is horrible. i take pepsid at one of my early morning bathroom breaks so it is in my system when i get up. I chew tums and drink pepto all day and still manage to miss a meal due to reflux. I then take pepsid 12 hours from the first time.

Re: reflux/heart burn?!
I was on Nexium until 5 months pregnant. It was the only thing that worked for the reflux. Was on it prior to getting pregnant..Then insurance stopped paying for it and I ended up in the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. WORST PAIN EVER!!!! Hopefully you can find something to help you.. Big thing is to try and avoid what is triggering the heartburn and reflux..
