If you have an extra freezer
is it a chest or an upright? And roughly how big is it? I keep going back and forth on which to get.
Thanks!

Re: If you have an extra freezer
I got the chest b/c the upright (door that swings side to side) wouldn't fit anything large (like a huge sheet cake or even large boxes from costco possibly. So we got a small chest and it's perfect. Got it at Sears for 169. Only thing it doesnt have a lock on it, which we did want but only the larger models came with that and they were too large.

I have an upright. It's about the size of a small refrigerator, just all freezer. Plenty of room for everything! I didn't want to have to dig around in a chest.

Re: If you have an extra freezer
We've had an upright freezer for about 10 years in our garage (attached to the house). I couldn't live without it! We got it at Sears, and made sure it was a frost free model (so that we never had to manually defrost it).
It's plenty big enough to store everything! It has 3 or 4 shelves, and at one point or another, I have stored large sheetcakes in it, large catering trays, bags of ice for parties, etc. Even 18" frozen pizza boxes!
I just checked for you. It's a Frigidaire Commercial one, it's 11.3 cu ft. and it's estimated annual operating cost is $47/year.

I have a Kenmore upright freezer (16.7 cu) from Sears and love it! I went with an upright after hearing my mom complain how she can never find anything in her chest freezer because everything is buried too deep. We went with the biggest one we could fit in our garage while also being able to park a car inside.
