MY CAC issues

So the other day I posted that the CAC in my house which is 1.5 years old wasnt working, and found out that the coils were frozen. Also found out that the idiot that installed the system never put a filter in and we recently had it tuned up and they didnt even change the filter because the repairman that was here yesterday said it was empty. Nice.

Anyway now they are coming on Monday because it is 85 degrees downstairs and 88 degrees upstairs. Danielle and the baby are sleeping at her sisters and me and the dog are sweating our azzes off lol.

On Monday they are coming to pump the system. They say there is a leak somewhere. They have to clean the condenser also. They said their may be a possibility that the leak is inside the wall and they may have to open the wall - It never ends. My money pit.

They also have to add refrigerant to the system which they already did when they were at the house in May for the tune up.

CAC sux. We wished we stuck with wall units.

sorry to hear all the troubles you are having with your CAC, but CAC is definitely better than wall units. Unfortunately your installer didn't do a good job and hopefully once it gets fixed you will be able to enjoy your investmentChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: MY CAC issues

We have similiar issues in our apt. The AC guy came the first time and said the coils were frozen. Made no sense since it never went below 72. It got back up to the high 80s and apparently there was a leak. Now with this insane heat nothing keeps this place cool enough. It's been up to 83 but eventaully goes down at night. I now hate CAC but my parents have it an it's nice and cold in there.

. Exactly. I can just imagine how upsetting it is to invest all that money and have these issues. We re-did our system about 6 years ago and knock on wood not one issue. We love it. Hope they find the problem and fix it quick!!

Re: MY CAC issues

I did a lot of hw on cac systems and basically came down to having the right installer to do the correct job means a lot more than the system itself! If you don't mind me asking, what company did you use? I'm having a new heat pump put in tomorrow- hopin it isnt the same company

Re: MY CAC issues

Not sure who installed it - He was a sub contractor from my contractor who dormer-ed my home - who we also fired.

I am having Apple Air fix it though

I had a similar issue this year with the leak- however they found ours and didn't have to break a wall. Our unit was never serviced since it was installed 8 years ago. Thankfully we have the home warranty so it covered everything but the cleaning. We used sears for that and they were excellent
