Re: Bird's nest!
OMG..I just googled & apparently they are northern mockingbirds & it said this about them on wikipedia:
"The birds aggressively defend their nest and surrounding area against other birds and animals. When a predator is persistent, mockingbirds from neighboring territories, summoned by a distinct call, may join the attack. Other birds may gather to watch as the mockingbirds harass the intruder. In addition to harassing domestic cats[7] and dogs they consider a threat, it is not unheard of for mockingbirds to target humans. They are absolutely unafraid and will attack much larger birds, even hawks. One famous incident in Tulsa, Oklahoma involving a postal carrier resulted in the distribution of a warning letter to residents."
Someone help meeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Bird's nest!
I only see two options - deal with it or remove it. I've gotten attacked by Mockingbirds before. They cut the scalp of my coworker (there was a nest close to the front door of one of our locations).
They *will* attack, even if you are in front of your house. If you can get a look in the nest and there are no eggs in it, the bird will be better off if you remove it now. It can find another place to rebuild.

Re: Bird's nest!
oh I DEF want to remove it!! I'm just scared for me or DH to go near it!!! I got close enough today to see that there seems to be one bird (maybe a momma bird) that just sits in there & never leaves.
I'd rather do it ourselves & not have to pay a company to come in & do it, but birds terrify me to begin with!!
I told DH to grab his bunker gear (hes a volunteer fireman) & helmet & then go try to get rid if it! I figure they cant hurt him if he is wearing that? aren't I so nice to tell HIM to go get rid of it?!?!? LOL
