How late is too late for neighbor's dog, kids, etc to be outside causing a ruckus?

I am just wondering... what time does everyone consider too late to be outside with the kids, dogs barking up a storm, kids screaming, etc on a Sunday night in your neighborhood?

(((Just trying to see if I am getting old or if they are really being inconsiderate, LOL)))

Thanks! Chat Icon

Thanks everyone. Looks like 10pm is the general consensus.

My neighbors have a loud dog that is barking outside at their kids on the trampoline Chat Icon from 9pm-10pm most weeknights. I know that it is the summer, but with 2 kids 2 and under, sleep is precious to me. I actually had to have my older DS start sleeping in my room because his room was very close to the trampoline on their property.

They have a pretty large backyard and chose to put their trampoline right up against the property line to my house.

In the summer I think I would expect people inside their homes by 10:30 pm, but in the winter I would expect people inside after 9 pm because it gets darker earlier and it is colder outside.

Depends on the town rules. My neighbors are out literally from sun up, to about 11 pm ALL nights. The only thing that really pissses me off is their dog. He barks, all my other neighbors dogs bark. Its like a pisssing contest between the dogs. my kid sleeps through a tornado, so I really dont care how long they are out.

I'd probably be a little irritated at 10 but I wouldn't really consider it RUDE until after 11.

Anything up until 11 pm is fine.

We've been known to sit on my deck with friends until 1 or 2 am. It's not loud, but we do. It's ususally my neighbors behind me, lol, we switch houses and I only have 1 other neighbor, I'm on a corner.

Too me that's different-I'm all for cocktails on my front porch at an hour of the night, as long as it's not a ruckus. Normal conversational levels seem appropriate-it's kids running around, dogs barking, etc that I think is over the top after 9 or so.

Re: How late is too late for neighbor's dog, kids, etc to be outside causing a ruckus?

As long as they aren't loud enough fro me to hear them when I'm inside my house, I could care less how late they are out there. But If I can hear them and they are causing a "ruckus"...anything after 9pm and I'd be irritated.

I have a young DS who is a light sleeper. 9pm is late...too late to be keeping my DS up.

Re: How late is too late for neighbor's dog, kids, etc to be outside causing a ruckus?

I dont know why but I feel like the dog should be not be outside barking after 9pm or so. As for kids running around and playing, I would say by 11 they should quiet down, go inside etc.
no clue at all why i think the dog should have an earlier curfew than kids lol... I guess because playing and laughing is more tolerable than a constant barking.
