BTFT mommies of kids who had very LATE solid food eaters
DS is 13.5 months and I tried a stage 3 and he just gags so bad still. He completely refused it.
The ONLY solid food he will take are the puffs and apple wheels but that's not a meal.
I still give him stage 2.
Did anyone experienced this?

I didn't experience a late solid eater but my DD hated stage 3's... I think it's b/c it's puree with chunks and it's confusing for them.
i would stick with stage 2's while you try to get him to eat regular table food.

Have you tried to give him table food and just skip the stage 3's? Maybe some small cut up things that he can pick up and eat himself?

I tried to cut pasta in very small pieces and mix with his jar food. I guess in essence I made it a stage 3.
But he gags a lot on any pieces regardless. He gags too on puff and he swallows them when they are not completely chewed also. So he gags too.
I guess I will try actual solid food.
I let him eat some of my banana today and he was fine with it.

josh has eating issues. stage 3 is difficult for many children b/c it is a duel consistency. i'd skip it and start boiling squash or carrots with a broth cube until it is super super mushy soft, you can also make spaghetti and cook it for like 1 hour (seriously!) with a little bit of sauce or butter so it too will be super mushy. gl!

This is what we're doing lately too. DD doesn't gag badly, but I think she's not fond of the trickiness of thin stuff with chunks in it, it confuses her. So we're back to Stage 2's also, and trying to get her to eat more table food.

I did pretty much the same, but it was more ME than THEM.  Im extra nervous about choking, so I took it super slow with giving them solids to eat on their own.
go at your own pace. you know your baby, if he's gagging, dont feel like you have to meet a certain standard of what anyone else does.

Stage 3 is a PITA in my opinion. Far too confusing for them...
Just try some table food.. Firm Tofu is perfect for beginners...

i agree-we never did stage 3's as DD hated them. we went right to table food. i think DD likes having control picking up the food on her own and feeding herself.

same here, DS doesn't really like the stage 3s. DS still eats stage 2s but I try to keep those for when we are away from home.
At home I have him feeding himself -fruits, some vegies, cheese, waffles, chicken, etc.. all in little bite size pieces. He loves yogurt.
