Iron in prenatals.
1-Is iron what causes constipation?
2- Can I take a prenatal without iron prior to pregnant and be ok? Is iron more important prior to pregnancy or while pregnant?

Thank you. This is what I thought. Im going to switch prenatals then because I normally suffer from constipation but adding prenatals to the mix is like pure hell. but once I become pregnant **crosses fingers** I will start taking iron pills.

yes... iron is what causes constipation... it is also what makes tends to make people nauseous if vitamins do that to you (that happens to me). Dr told me its fine to take the ones with out. She said I can take a supplement later if I need to!

Yea, iron can be VERY constipating. And can also turn ur stool really dark. U can take colace/stool softner as needed. Safe in pregnancy. Some prenatals even have a stool softner in it.
