Prenatal Vitamins
I feel like such a bad mommy. I have such a hard time taking them. Swallowing pills makes me gag as it is and now I have to take 3 each night. Just the thought of it makes me sick. I havent taken them the last 2 nights. Is this bad? I know I have to take them and I will tonight. Has anyone else missed or not even taken prenatal vitamins? BTDT moms what did you do?

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
I forget every once in a while to take mine....and the same happened with DS #1. However, I don't have 3 pills to take...I have one pill. Maybe talk to your OB to see if he can give you one instead of 3.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
The prenatals are (most times) for you, not for the baby. The baby will take what it needs. I didn't take mine for months because I was sick, and the Dr said it was fine and just to start taking them when I felt I could keep them down again. He told me the baby will take everything it needs and leave me with nothing, lol.

THe prescription ones from my OB are blueberry flavored chewables (although I just swallow them). They are called Vitafol-OB

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
Flame away, but I only took them during the first trimester with both my pregnancies because I couldn't swallow them. My DS is fine, and this pregnancy is going well also.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
I had an issue with my old pill
but not at all with my new pill! i take prenate essential. it's an aqua pill... just one pill (has dha and that other one too e something). it's rx. and the coating is fruity tasting. goes down so easily.
i have on occasion forgotten to take it. but i've become a lot better at remembering. i leave them by my bed and take them before i go to bed each night. it also helps that i get heartburn and i take them along with my pepcid ac pills.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
Walmart sells a gummi version that you can chew. If you keep them in the fridge, they taste just like gummi bears!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
I just changed to a chewable that my dr. recommended for the same reason! I missed some vitamin time as well...

I also take these & they are very easy to get down. But I do forget to take them at least once a week. I told my doctor and he said that's fine.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
I forget them sometimes. I hate taking pills and just thinking about them makes me sick. I told my doctor yesterday and he changed them, so we'll see how this brand works, maybe they can change them to one pill a day, that is what I made them to for me.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
With my first pregnancy I took a chewable regular vitamin and added a folic acid and a DHA pill because they are SO much smaller than the prenatal vitamins. They can choke a horse!
