Highlights -- Help!

I havent had my hair highlighted in over 10 years -- but im getting sick of my dark brown hair and want to lighten up for the summer .....but im having trouble figuring out what to get since its been so long i dont remember what half the terminology is for...

whats the difference between full and partial??

If you get highlights and lowlights is that more money?

Can you dye the base color lighter than add highlights?? Do they do that? I dont want to have that blond streaks through dark hair look...

How much can i expect to spend? Does anyone have a good salon in Suffolk that has resonable prices they can recommend?

A full head of highlights is when they do your entire head. A half head (or partial) is when they only do the top half, or crown of your head.

If you want a bigger contrast you can get highlights and low lights. It does cost more money to get both processes. But during the summer, my hair usually lightens naturally, so I find the lowlights lighten too.

You can probably dye the base and then get highlights, but that would probably be a lot of money and be a lot of processing for your hair.

You dont have to get blonde highlights - you could get lighter brown or even red highlights - red looks really nice on dark hair

If you want to change your whole head color you can do both at the same time. Your hairdresser will put the foils in your hair and the put the dye in the rest of your head. A toner can be put in to change the color of the highlights if they are too blonde etc. I do this to my clients.

As for price depending on where you go its a HUGE difference. Where are you located? I probably can help you pick one. I did the above partial highlight and color with a haircut and paid $75 which is SUPER cheap! My girlfriend that I went to beauty school with works there. She is awesome!
