my confession ...
So I tested this morning at 8dpo with a dollar store test BFN. Not a big deal because I know it is ridiculously early to test. This cycle is going so slow and the waiting is making me crazy so I felt I had to do something. I was curious so when I tested with the PG test, I also tested with a First Response OPK stick. There was a very faint line on the OPK. I used FMU. Does the line on the POK mean anything? I am not by any means saying I got a BFP- I am just curious as to what the OPK was telling me. I thought I read somewhere that you always have a level of LH in you body. Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts or experiences to share.

Re: my confession ...
i know that you can use an OPK and get a positive reading when you're pregnant but i think that's only after you've missed AF. Since its so early i dont think an OPK is reliable.
maybe it is picking up some traces of LH still in your body?

Re: my confession ...
My pregnancy tests came with a sample OPK in the box and I got a second line on it. I used it thinking it was a pregnancy test and then discovered it was not. I took a regular pregnancy test and it was a BFN. Hopefully this isn't the case for you

Re: my confession ...
It was really early to test so don't be disappointed in your BFN. You still have plenty of hope for this month
As far as the OPK, it depends. The brand that I use (internet cheapie), will always show two lines. If the second line is the same color as the control line then that is a . If your line was lighter then that is a Negative.

Re: my confession ...
I *think* that an OPK will be able to give you a BFP only after you have enough of the hormone to get a pretty solid BFP on a HPT. So yea, it probably wasn't a BFP just yet.
But 8 DPO is so early. I took tests starting at 7DPO , and it wasn't until 9DPO that the slightest, faintest of lines appeared.

I use the First Response OPK's and I almost always have a faint line. I've read that that's pretty common. I get a much more distinct line whenever I O or when I close to it, but for me there's always a line of some degree.
