Help me with Progesterone Suppositories

So Dr.B said I need to start these tomorrow. The bottle says 400 mg but it doesn't say anything about how many I should take. Also, I have read horrifying things about weight gain/bloating/headaches. Would you guys share your experiences with me to take me off the edge here?!?

Thanks Chat Icon

Re: Help me with Progesterone Suppositories

if your insurance covers it DEF go back to dr. B and ask for crinone. its 600000 times better than the supps.

as far as weight gain and headaches, i never had that issue directly from progesterone supps although i def had bloating. the best thing to do with supps is put it in immediately before laying down for bed. as long as you lay down for a few hours after putting it in it minimizes the drip.

other than being kinda icky they really are nothing to worry about at all.

you will want to email dr. B and ask him how many to do a day. for me it was 2 so i did one right before bed and one in the middle of the night. i have heard him prescribe just one so you def want to ask him how many you need.

Thanks! My insurance only covered a small amount because I had to pay a $65 copay so maybe it would be the same or less?! I will try it for this month and then if we aren't pregnant this month ask him for the stuff you suggested. I am so not looking forward to more bloating. I feel like I have been bloated since CD3!!! Thanks for your help as always :)

Re: Help me with Progesterone Suppositories

Progesterone in general always made me feel very pregnant - headaches, bloating, weight gain, sore nipples, you name it.

I am probably in the minority but I prefer to do PIO because I cannot stand the suppositories and the leakage factor that comes along with it. I always felt very uncomfortable with them.

Re: Help me with Progesterone Suppositories

I have only ever used the endometrin suppositories. I have heard that they are not as messy as the other suppositories. They make me feel bloated, sore breasts and a little nauseous. Tons of Fun!!!

Good Luck

I think you should call the pharmacy, if its the ones that they made from scratch, I believe they are suppose to be kept in the fridge.

It's really recommended to put in the fridge just for your comfort so they keep their shape better and easier to insert. As long as it's not the summer and you're without air conditioning or some extreme circumstance where it's left in a warm place, they will be FINE and it's really just a matter of preference!

hmmmm....fridge?? Im thinking this must be different than what i was prescribed. The ones I have are like a giant pill with an applicator. So far so good with them. Except for the fact that I woke up last night and my tank was soaked with sweat!!! ewwwww....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Those are the endometrin. They are different then the others. I heard they are less messy. I have only ever used the endometrin so I have nothing to compare to, but I do wake up completely soaked with sweat every night. I also have REALLY vivid dreams.
