Ever paint a room and then hate it?
I just spent the day painting my bathroom, liked the color at first but now I am noticing it looks great in the natural light during the day but terrible at night....
ETA: Just to make sure I wasn't losing it, I changed my CFL bulbs back to regular bulbs and sure enough it looks completely different!!

Re: Ever paint a room and then hate it?
yes!
the next time, I learned my lesson...I had paint chips for a few days and saw them in all different kinds of light. Lighting makes such a big difference.
I had painted my master bedroom Million Dollar Red, which was cool, but so anxiety-producing.
I had it repainted to a beautiful and calming blueish/grayish.
You may get used to it, but if you don't, repaint it. It's not worth it.

Re: Ever paint a room and then hate it?
We painted our bathroom Glidden dusty gold and in our living room it looks amazing as an accent wall, but in our bathroom it looked like crap....We finally painted the bathroom a Dark hershey Brown and we love it.

Re: Ever paint a room and then hate it?
Yes. I had to repaint after 3 coats in my bathroom in my old house. After that I learned to paint large swatches on the walls.

This just happened to me in my living room. I love the accent wall and hate the rest. I have to learn to test colors before taking the plunge.

Even worse we had hired a painter and when I came home I hated it! Bermuda Sand, not thinking at the time it would be pinkish!

yes, I hate the color I chose for my bathroom. We even used a sample and liked the sample. I think what happened was the color would be better for a larger room but our bathroom is small and it overpowers the room.

Re: Ever paint a room and then hate it?
Yup. And more then once. The first time we painted our kitchen we had a mustardy yellow in mind. We got it up there and it was the exact color of a Number 2 pencil (like the ones you use on a test ) It was repainted the very next day. For our living room we "thought" we wanted a modern look. We purchase black stream lined couches and painted the walls a light blue/gray color. Blegh. I hated the whole room. Because we spent so much time and money we left it that way for a few years and then redid the whole roon from top to bottom. Oh, and did I mention we have 15 foot ceilings and did it all ourselves.

Re: Ever paint a room and then hate it?
Oh yeah...a few times. The bedroom 2 x - first it was Behr - I think Worn Glove or something like that - brownish - it was 8 years ago.. Then when we gutted teh room I painted it a pale yellow. Hated it immediately. Then I painted it a sage green and I love it.
I'm starting to feel that way about my stairway going upstairs - I'd like an accent color but the thought of having to do gymnastics moves to get part of it painted is a huge deterrant.

Re: Ever paint a room and then hate it?
All the time-my daughter's room has been 2 shades of pink and 3 shades of green. I'm pretty sure I am painting it purple soon.
Same with my son's room. And our bedroom was green and now a blue.
I'm crazy when it comes to settling on a paint color.

Re: Ever paint a room and then hate it?
Yes, we painted our old living room. It seemed to be a terra cotta color. When it went up with all the natural light and such....it looked like a caribbean peach color. You felt like you needed a drink with an umbrella the minute you walked in.
DH had picked the color! Its the LAST time he picked a color. The following weekend we repainted it yellow.
