Tuesday QOTD
First, thanks to Jenny614 for nominating me and lots of to Autumn and familiy.
Here goes:
How involved to you think DH will be when you have a LO? Will he be diving in changing diapers and getting up for midnight feedings or will he be terrified to even hold a baby? If you already have a DC, how involved was DH at the infant stage and do you think he'll be different this time around?

Re: Tuesday QOTD
I thought of this question last night when DH was asking me to put rubber gloves on him during a renovation project. I could definitely see him being dramatic and putting on gloves and a mask to change a stinky diaper! I think he'll be involved but totally clueless so I'm sure I'll take on most of the work. I also know it took him two years to be comfortable holding my parents small dog so I'm sure he'll be uneasy holding a newborn at first. Hopefully in time he'll be both comfortable and helpful!

Re: Tuesday QOTD
I think DH will be very involved. He will help out in the middle of the night and with all the feedings/changings. He is great with my niece and nephew so I just know he will be great as a father and very hands on.

Re: Tuesday QOTD
DH has two kids already- so he has a ton of experience. I, on the other hand, have no experience with kids. So, I'm going to depend on him a lot.

Re: Tuesday QOTD
Hmmm....good question. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Unfortunately as far as night feedings go, I think I am on my own with that one as my DH can sleep through a hurricane and takes FOREVER and a day to wake up if he falls asleep on the couch. I think he will try and do what he can to help out. But we will see...I see what he is like with his Beagle Daisy May and he treats her like a little baby so it looks good.

Re: Tuesday QOTD
He was 16 when his younger brother was born so he has expeirence with newborns... so he will change and feed... but evenso, i think he will be a bigger part of the kids life when they are a little less fragile... lol

Re: Tuesday QOTD
We have 1 DC already and I was so impressed with my DH right from the start. He had ZERO experience with newborns and he had never changed a diaper in his life. He WANTED to be involved right from the minute of birth. He immediately dove right in with everything. He was never nervous holding DC or anything, but he would get nervous if he was left alone because he could never be certain of feeding/napping times and he was so afraid of messing it up. He needed a lot of help and guidance, but he was SO willing and still is! It's so cute

Re: Tuesday QOTD
DH already has a LO and he is extremely hands on and always has been. I totally expect him to be the same w/our LO. We've already talked about taking turns w/late night feedings, cooking, etc. He's also a lot more relaxed than I am and handles stress and pressure better than I do, so in many ways, I think he will be taking the reins so to speak.

Re: Tuesday QOTD
DH is scared of newborns...won't even hold them. We had a chat about this a while ago and he assured me that it will be different w/ "his" kid. I think he is going to be an awesome dad....one of the many reasons why I got into a serious relationship w/him. I am very open w/him about the type of family life ( a very involved parent) I want to have and he is right on board w/everything. The only thing that will be tricky is night time feedings....I that I can BF so it will be up to me most of the time but even if we bottle feed, DH sometimes works 24 shifts so thats a least 2 -3 nights a week I am on my own.

Re: Tuesday QOTD
DH has three nephews that he is great with and I know he will be an awesome active dad, but I dont know how he will be with poopie diapers and getting up numerous times per night. I think he will have the intention to help but i will probably do a lot myself when it comes to diapers, feeding, sleeping, etc. Overall I do think he will be an amazing dad and we will be a great team.

Re: Tuesday QOTD
DH is looking forward to being a "hands-on" Dad. My cousin has a 5month old and from the start DH jumped in...holding him, feeding him, soothing him. I was totally shocked! I cannot wait to see him in action with our own.
If he can take care of me when Im sick & moody our LO sould be a piece of cake

Re: Tuesday QOTD
I have no idea!!! I know he knows how to hold a baby but I can't picture him changing a diaper but you can bet your behind that he will be changing his fair share!
It's hard for me to tell how he'll be around a newborn or infant because he doesn't have that much experience with them. I'll have to show him the ropes. I used to work in a daycare in the infant room so I will at least have that experience.
He's great with our niece and nephews though but they are older (4, 6, 8)
