Doctor Question

I live out East. I had planned on delivering at Southampton hospital. The OBGYN that I got recommendations for from all my friends only delivers there. I just found out Aetna and Southampton are in negotiations, but I didn't think this would affect anything till it had been resolved. I called the office today to make my first appt, and they told me they can't see me until a settlement is reached by 2/28. At 2/28, I will almost be 8 weeks. So should I call back then, have no doctor for another 4 weeks, and then still maybe not get seen, or see another practice that delivers at StonyBrook? I know nothing about this practice, and Stony Brook is a good 30 minutes away. but I would have a doctor.

Most doctors won't see you until at least 8 weeks anyway, so if it's the doc you want, I'd wait. Maybe make an appointment with another doc for the week after that or something in case you can't get in to the one you want because of negotiations, this way you won't have to wait longer for an appointment.

Most places won't see you until your 8 to 10 weeks anyway. But just in case the negotiations take a little longer, maybe have that back up choice?

Thanks girls. I'm going to do exactly what you said. I will make the appt with the Stony Brook doctor and then stalk Aetna, till the resolution is made. Thanks!!!
