Vaccination question
I was just wondering. When the time comes for the MMR Vaccine. Will you give it to your child or decide to do a titer every 3 months?
I believe im leaning toward the titer until the baby is bigger & able to handle it. My child will not be in day care at anypoint while an infant. Of course this is JMO.

Re: Vaccination question
I will give it to him, but after he's over 6 months old. Before then he won't really be exposed to anyone/anything anyway.

Re: Vaccination question
I'm torn on this. MIL will most likely be staying with DC, so they won't be in daycare, but I have a good friend whose DC's are not vaccinated, so I'd be worried about being exposed through them.

Re: Vaccination question
My son was vaccinated for MMR around 18 months old and baby #2 will be also. My drs office only gives two vaccines at a time and I trust their judgement completely. It isn't just daycare where kids can pick up viruses. My babysitter is certain her daughter got H1N1 at the grocery store.

This is very true. But it is a plus if you are deciding not to vaccinate.
This decision is of course a very personal choice. We all have our own reasons. I was just wondering how many actually do & dont.

Re: Vaccination question
I'm more concerned with the DPT than the MMR. My brother had a SEVERE reaction to the pertussis part of the vaccine. I will be discussing my options with the pediatrician we choose.

Re: Vaccination question
My kids have received all vaccinations on schedule, including MMR, and this one will too. They are not in day care.

The DPT has changed since we were kids. Supposedly, the way it's formulated now is less likely to cause a reaction. I had an allergic reaction to the DPT as a newborn. DS received the DTap and had no reaction at all.

Re: Vaccination question
I am going to wait and spread the vaccines out until shes about a year or so. Of course, I will be discussing my options with my ped., but this is just my personal preferance.

Re: Vaccination question
My ped is pretty progressive with vaccines, so I'm comfortable with his schedule. there are never more than 2 at a time, MMR is after 12 months and he uses special vaccines that take the complete nucleus out rather than just a chunk of it.

Re: Vaccination question
As of right now, I don't see any reason to delay vaccinations. That said I had a really bad reaction to the DTP and couldn't finish the series, so if something like that happens to this baby I'll hold off on that, but other than that we are going to vaccinate on schedule. I'm scheduled to get the DTaP after the baby is born because of the recent outbreak of Pertussis I want to try and pass some of the immunities on to the baby via breast feeding before they are scheduled to get the vaccination.
I am going to try to get preservative free vaccinations.
