Do you leave your crockpot on all day when you are gone for work?
Anyone leave it on for a good 9-10 hours while they are at work?? I love the idea of having a meal all set by the time i get home, but i'm freaked out by leaving it on so lnog while i'm not home.

Yes, I have done this many times. My crockpot has a timer that switches to "keep warm" once it's done.

Yeah this makes me nervous, too. For people with pets, your dog doesn't go over and try and take it off the counter? My dog is so bad with counter surfing but I NEEEEEEED one of these in my life!

Yes, I do and haven't had a problem.
To the PP about the dog - I usually leave it on the back part of the counter. He'd literally have to climb up onto the countertop to get at it.

Re: Do you leave your crockpot on all day when you are gone for work?
I have done this (my crockpot goes to a warm setting after the timer goes off) however, when I complained that the meat I was cooking was dry everyone said it was because I was cooking it too long (ie leaving it on warm for such a long time).

Yes we do this all the time. It is great on weekends too when we are out all day and then come home to a cooked meal.

Re: Do you leave your crockpot on all day when you are gone for work?
Yes! Have done it many times. Don't forget it's slow cook so it never gets hot where it is going to melt. If you never had a slow cooker and are nervous, there is a ceramic/stone ware pot that goes into the metal slow cooker.

I used to all the time, until my youngest German Shepherd got tall enough to reach the back of the counter. I came home, the top was off (not broken on top of the counter) all the pot was licked clean.
Now I do it overnight.

I have only a few time b/c I get nervous also but the more I use it the more confident I feel.
Why does a glass cutting board help or what does it prevent?

Re: Do you leave your crockpot on all day when you are gone for work?
I was just talking about this with someone this past weekend and they said it is basically the same as leaving a 100 watt lightbulb on all day. Sounds safe to me!

Re: Do you leave your crockpot on all day when you are gone for work?
It's ok, I had to laugh too. The dog has some skill. I had the crock pot on the lowest setting to cook for the longest amount of time, so I don't think it gets hot enough for him to get burned. But he managed to push it all the way from the back of counter to the edge, without unplugging it, get the top off, without breaking it and cleaned it out - 3 chicken cutlets, sauce, red peppers and a little red onion. I have to say, he was neat about it too because there was no sauce on the floor, counter or cabinets.
And I know it wasn't the other 2 because they can't reach the top of the counter.
Needless to say, Logan can't be trusted. Cute, but not trustworthy.
