How long to get an RE appt/experiences?

I know each dr and each practice is different but those who have seen an RE, how long did it take to get an appt? I got some refferals and thinking I may just call to make an appt.

Also, what happens at the first check up? I really want my hubby to get an SA done as well.

THe RE I was/am working with, I didn't have to wait very long...I think a week or so? And subsequent appointments have been very easy to get....

2 weeks for the initial appt. The follow up appts have been scheduled very quickly

i think about 3 weeks for the first consult...but for me it was little longer bc I wanted to see Dr. B in his NYC office and he only goes there every 2 weeks.

I called on my own without a referral from my OB (my insurance allowed it). He wanted me to wait 3 months post HSG. I waited one month and then decided to at least get started with a consult. I had an appt with Dr. Brenner at LI IVF within a week. My DH had already had an SA that my OB had given a script for, but Dr. Brenner gave me another for a repeat SA with different criteria.

At the consult, I told Dr. Brenner my situation and he went over any test results that I had already completed. He gave me his opinion and laid out my options and I told him I needed to think things over. I am very glad I decided to take action a little sooner than my OB had suggested. Basically I ended up PG around the time that I would have ended up visiting with an RE for the first time.

When I called, I intentionally made the appt for 3wks later, but they would have been able to get me in sooner.

At the first appointment they will probably give you a script for an SA .. that seems to be pretty standard! They will also ask your history, etc.. and send you for bloodwork.. some do a sono that day.. some don't.

I believe it took me about 2 weeks to get an appointment for a consult. If your DH has already had an SA done by then, you could bring the results with you.
They'll go over your history (and probably request your chart from your gyno beforehand and have you fill out your history), discuss what they actually do for treatment, then probably want to send you for a series of tests to determine if you have any obvious issues (bloodwork for both of you, SA for DH, HSG for you to see if your tubes are clear etc). Once they have those results, you'd go back on CD3 of your next period to actually start monitoring and any meds and treatment.

I would say it took about 3 weeks to get my 1st appt. There was no exam, we just discussed my history and looked at past blood tests . GL!

I called on a Monday and had my Appt that Thursday Evening. I didnt have a referral from OB my insurance does not require one. DH and I went we went over our medical history with the doctor and why we were there they did a blood test and started me on Provera. Then I went back on Day 3 Sono & Blood Work....I go to Dr. Trivax in RSof NY in Mineola. I really like them there they are great!!!!!!!!

I just had my first last week. I went to RSofNY in Stony Brook. I had an appointment within 1 week of calling. We had a consult with our RE where he reviewed my medical records, went over previous tests, etc. and we discussed a plan for us. We then had bloodwork (both DH and I) done at that same appointment and then he is also recommending that we do another SA for DH.
