checking cervix
Does your doctor check your cervix manually? I mean i know I am high risk and they need to check each time (once a week)...but i'm so uncomfortable with the poking up there especially after everything I've been through. I'm always nervous something will go wrong.
At the hospital they use the internal ultrasound but at my doctors office they poke with their fingers.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I usually get an ultrasound but sometimes the doc wants to check it out and see the "condition" of the cervix. Im so used to being poked and prodded that nothing phases me anymore.
I kow its not exactly the most comfortable but hang in there. its all for a good cause. How are u dealing with the bedrest??

Re: checking cervix
Bedrest hasn't been the easiest but i just keep thinking of my lil guy and it gives me strength to keep going. Thank you for asking.
Im just paranoid about the manual checks. I've gotten a little better with always thinking the worse. lol
Do they also check your cervix once a week? it might just be a multiples thing.

Re: checking cervix
Are you sure they are going to be checking by hand, and not ultrasound? Both my last pregnancy (which was with twins) and this pregnancy all my cervix checks were by ultrasound except for when I was having contractions.

Re: checking cervix
Yeah I have been getting checked every week since 15 weeks i had a cerclage done last week so Im sure they will keep checking it and see how its holding up.
Anything I have done I keep thinking the same thing. My little girls are keeping me going and saying that my body is their home right now and i gotta do what i gotta do to keep them safe and sound in there.
how far along are u?

From the very beginning they did it manually and internal sonogram only at the hospital to measure. I dunno...
and now it seems they will check every week alternating manual and sonogram.

Im 25 weeks now. I feel like i have such a long way to go and the uncertainty of preterm labor kills me!
How far along are you? Although i know what a cerclage is i don't know details. You are prob on bedrest like me? Keep strong and think about the two lil miracles growing inside of you
Are they identical or fraternal??

Re: checking cervix
My doctor does now (I am at 36.6 weeks though) Supposedly it's actually less intrusive physically than a sono (though perhaps more personally) From what I understand there is very little risk from checking manually. . and some sone internal sonos are actually worse (though i'm sure both are fine)
Hang in there!!! You are doing great!

Re: checking cervix
I'm 29 weeks and have had my cervix checked every 2 weeks since the beginning. It's always been by ultrasound but sometimes the baby's feet are in the way and she can't get a good measurement so she does a manual. So I understand the discomfort but it's for a good cause!
