My SIL did- she had a prior loss at 5 months and it looked like she would lose this one as well. So she was stiched up and put on bedrest and a special diet.

Her daughter is a little over a year old now. Chat Icon

My mom did for her last 2 pregnancies.

It was done around 6 months. Her cervix is constantly open at 1/4 inch (even prior to PG) so babies had a tendency to go out.

The stiches were removed during her 8th month. She gave birth 2 weeks after the stiches were removed.

ETA: she was on real bedrest from being 12 weeks PG. Only allowed to get up to go to the bathroom.

Does the procedure hurt, do you know?

I don't know that part but I know that vaginal delivery was a bit tough. The cervix was not very "elastic" from being stiches so she had a bit more pain. She went natural though for all her birth. She just told me labor was harder.

That's the cerclage, they almost did it to me. They said it didn't hurt or anything though.
OH man, there's a girl right now on pregnancy- I think it's Lucy- who has this and they're taking it out next week....

Sorry can't be much more help!

I think I'll have to get this done for my future pregnancies. I was put on bed rest at 26 weeks due to a shortened cervix - they would have given me the cerclage if it had happened sooner. I do know someone who had it done after losing a baby around 5 months. She worked up until they end and the baby is healthy and fine now.
