All-Inclusive Resorts in May?
So, it's our one year wedding anniversary this May and I would like to do an all inclusive resort for DH and I. I did a quick search on here and only found one post suggesting Punta Cana. I'm definitely going to check this out, but I was hoping for a few other suggestions! I'd preferably like something for couples or at least adults only and lots of activities! TIA!

Re: All-Inclusive Resorts in May?
My absolute favorite AI is Excellence Playa Mujeres in Mexico. This place is pure luxury. Our room was absolutely beautiful with a HUGE shower, balcony, and a private roof-top terrace that had 2 beds and a private plunge pool. The food was good, the grounds are beautiful, and the service was great as well. And the spa is phenomenal! The only thing is I'm not sure what the weather is like there in May.
My next favorite is Couples Swept Away in Negril, Jamaica. This resort has THE most beautiful beach I've ever seen. The rooms are basic and more along the lines of what you would expect in the tropics, but they're still nice enough. The service is beyond excellent. Good food as well. the big plus here (besides the beach) is that there are a ton of activities included that are not normally included with other AI resorts (catamaran cruise, glass bottom boat tour, etc).
We also went to Excellence Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for our HM. At the time we loved it. The food was great, service was excellent, room was nice, grounds are beautiful, etc. But that was our first AI and after going to others I think the above two rated higher in our books. We'll def go back one day though because it really is a great resort.
All of the resorts I mentioned are adults only.

I agree with JenMarie...Excellence Playa Mujeres. Seriously that place was ah-mazing!!!!!!!!!! Everything she said was true.
We went to the Excellence in Punta Cana this past July and while it was nice, it definitely did not compare to Playa Mujeres. It is just a newer, nicer resort.
And, I think our next AI resort will probably be the Couples Swept Away resort in Jamaica. I've heard amazing things about it.

Surprisingly, Excellence Playa Mujeres has the best prices, too! Do you usually book right through the website or do you go through another site? TIA! You've been SO helpful!

Jillian - I used a travel agent (Travel Tom, I am sure you've heard of him from LIW). He says he gets the best prices for Excellence resorts since he books so many people there...might not hurt to try him out. FM me if you want his info.

YES! We booked a trip to Excellence PM with Travel Tom and it was AMAZING - best trip I have ever been on. The food, the service, the resort was absolutely PHENOMENAL. We wanted to go back again but I'm just too nervous with all the things regarding Mexico that have been flooding the news lately. I'm sure you'll be OK though - at least, with Travel Tom you do feel safer b/c he has an AMEX person pick you up at the airport and it's just you and maybe ONE other couple that are in the car. It isn't a long trip to the resort - about 25 minutes maybe 35 tops and there are two gates with two armed guards. So, that made me feel better it's just this year I was too nervous. But I can't wait to go back when things there are better!!! It's SO AMAZING you are going to LOVE IT!!! I loved Travel Tom's input and help too -- DEFINITELY do the speedboat trip! Ask him about that. And ABSOLUTELY splurge and swim with the dolphins and dolphin encounter! That was the most amazing experience of my life!!! I have just a few pics in my album of that specifically. I should upload the Excellence pics - what a great resort!!
His prices were the best, he took care of every single detail and we just got an itinerary booklet - it was amazing and I would never go back there without using him to book it for me. It was so organized and I didn't feel like I was on one of those "I booked it online" tours on a bus to the hotel with 43874587 other people. This was such a nice way to do it and it ended up being cheaper than anything else!
The only thing is: Travel Tom usually recommends Air Mexicana because he gets the best prices with them but there's also Jet Blue. The difference was MINIMAL when we went but I just let him do Mexicana - I was kind of sad I did. We got there on time and in one piece but there were flies in the cabin, the plane was mad old, and overall it was shoddy. If I could do the trip over again the ONLY thing different would be taking Jet Blue with the nice TV's and the pretty new planes! It was like a difference of 30 bucks each or something stupid

YIKES! Thank you for the heads up about Mexicana- I'd definitely pay the extra cash for Jet Blue! Thank you both- I'm definitely going to contact him. We might have to postpone the trip until September though. But we'll see!

Oh best of luck - yeah just tell him, whenever you decide to go, that you want to do Jet Blue instead. Air Mexicana was ewwies! LOL!

Re: All-Inclusive Resorts in May?
I always book my trips through Travel Tom as well ([email protected]). I always fly American Airlines with him and have never had an issue. Also, he can give you "cancel for ANY reason" insurance. You could be missing a sock and can cancel up to one hour before your flight leaves - especially handy if you are now planning to go in September. I went in September and it was perfect.
If you want to see pictures of any of these places just FM me and I'll send them to you.
