Those of you that have been to All-Inclusive Resorts . . .

Did you pack on pounds while staying at one? I know I did and SO do not want to deal with that again. Does anyone have any tips for enjoying yourself but keeping from gaining tons of weight. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Bri - the only way I can give advice for this is to say don't go to El Dorado!! You totally know what I mean!! Was I happy knowing I would gain - of course not - did I sort of know it was going to happen - yeah - I chose to just enjoy myself and deal with it when I got home.
We're probably going back this summer and I guess I'll deal the same way!
Good luck!!

Re: Thos eof you that have been to All-Inclusive Resorts . . .

we did 2 weeks at an AI for our HM and loved it. For the first few days we did nothing but eat! After the first few days we decided to eat light for breakfast and lunch and then indulge for our dinners. We also did quite a bit of excercize. I think I gained about 3-4 pounds in the 2 weeks we were there.

We actually ate just our three meals since most of the time we were hanging out by the pool bar drinking, sunbathing, relaxing, and having a good time.....Chat Icon
We have breakfast and then around 2pm eat some lunch(fruits in-between) and then at night have dinner.....
I didn't feel like I've gained a lot of weight from that.....

Uh yes I did!!! So I really dont have any tips. But if I wasnt a huge hog, my fantasy would be to start each meal with a salad, have fruit for dessert, only indulge for one meal a day, do lots of walking, hiking, exercise, etc.

Re: Those of you that have been to All-Inclusive Resorts . . .

Okay, I should really take my own advice, but do you ever scope out the gym areas in the resorts?
DH and I have worked out on vacation before (very rarely, thoughChat Icon ) and it is quite exhilirating. The days I worked out I felt much better about eating like a pig for the rest of the trip. I also felt a lot better physically; sometimes all the eating and laying around on the beach make me more sluggish.

Re: Those of you that have been to All-Inclusive Resorts . . .

I gained five pounds when I was at an all-inclusive resort for a week.
Just remind yourself that you don't have to eat everything in sight just because you can. If you follow a diet at home, follow it there as well. Eat losts of fruits and veggies, watch the alcohol intake and make use of the gym. Try to be as active as possible while still relaxing and enjoying yourself. Have fun!

For me it was. I drank Rum Cream all day which is basically an alcoholic shake.

Bri - we have the tix from American that we had to cancel and change last year because of the hurricane. So we have until the last week of July to use them - so we'll be going sometime before that! Wouldn't it be a blast if we were there together?Chat Icon

Re: Those of you that have been to All-Inclusive Resorts . . .

Bri, I have no advice because I'm the type to eat like a piggy when I'm on vacation (especially at an all-inclusive type of place) so all I can suggest is to ENJOY and worry about the diet when you get home Chat Icon

On our honeymoon cruise (cruises as everyone knows are like an excuse to pig out 24-7) I literally gained 11 pounds in 10 days Chat Icon YES you read right, more than 1 pound a day - that's just friggin insane!!

Yes, but you know what? Live it up. It's only for a little while!

Now, if you were going to move to live at one forever (I can dream!) you'd have to take up tennis or something. But for a week or two, what the hell!
