Short Lp

What is the correlation between a short Lp and needing meds for it? How exactly does it affect ttc? I'm so confused with all of this!

I'm not 100% sure but I know the pinned thread at the top of the board has a little bit of info on it. you might also want to post this on the infertility boards, maybe someone there is taking meds for it Chat Icon

Re: Short Lp

short LP is if you get AF 9 days or less after ovulation. anything 10 or more is normal. it is most commonly due to low progesterone. also if you have spotting for a few days before AF or if you have spotting during the 2WW normally, it could also be signs of low progesterone. this can inhibit proper implantation since the uterine lining starts to shed (ie. AF arrives) too soon.

as far as meds go, progesterone supplementation in pill or vaginal suppository form is most common. theres also shots but generally those are saved for either severe cases or after IVF when progesterone supplementation is crucial. many doctors prescribe progesterone at the first sign of any LP/implantation issue, and sometimes without any issue, because it cant hurt anything, it can only help.
