another silly topic that has been on my mind..

Does anyone have a DH that holds a job that might not be so easy for him to break away from when the time comes to go to the hospital?

DH is a restaurant manager, and eventually he would be able to break away...but it would take awhile.

No but if it makes you feel any better one night after my DD was born and I was still in the hospital there was an emergency and my DH needed to leave work and come to the hospital. We had practice this a 10000 times in case I had went into labor while he was at work and don't you know the doof got lost and took him almost 2 1/2 hours to get to the hospital

DH drives a van and delivers for my dad's company. So, it is kind of hard for him to get away. I can just picture him "finishing his stops" before he comes to the hopsital

Luckily he wasen't in the air when I went into labor. I did go into Preterm labor when he was flying once and to make it worse he was up in GA as part of a large military exercise.
Most likely he won't even be home for #2, if we get to that point.
Most likely your Dh will have enough time to make it with you. Have you looked into hypobirthing or maybe hiring a doula to help you labor at home better if you choose to stay and wait for him.

He's a fireman, so I have visions of him being relocated and me not being able to get in touch with him, or me being in labor and calling and calling while they are out on a run or something. I just try and tell myself that even if I can't get in touch right away, he'll still have enough time to make it to me. At least I hope so!!

my husband is in law enforcement, and just like the post above, i am afraid i will be calling him and he will be in the process of something he or he won't hear his phone (which he is good for)

Hubby works in Manhattan and I delivered in Smithtown............I kept stressing he was going to miss it. I eventually was induced so he took the day off

OH and our BIL's brother is the deputy chief of the NYPD, anyways he actually asked him if I went into labor and it was during rush hour could he take the HOV lane since it was an emergency.

BIL's Brother was like UM no, not unless you want to get a ticket.

So my Brillany hubby says to him well can I call you and get a police escort.

I am not PG but I was actually discussing this with my DH the other day. He works for UPS and it is so hard for them to get out. I asked him what happens. He was like IDK, I told him to look around.

My hubby is a firefighter/paramedic so there is a chance he could be on a call.
I might not be able to reach him right away but once he gets back to the engine house he can take emergency leave. The hospital isn't too far from him.

OOOOHHHH Janice! My Blood pressure just shot up! I never considered that...YIKES!
I would die if dh missed out on his baby. I guess I will have to tie him down after thanksgiving
