Ahhhhhhhhhhh, what is happening?
So on Saturday I weighed myself and was 145. On Thursday 145.5, so I know I can trust that weight. Sunday I hosted a brunch and I wasn't perfect, but I didn't think I did too badly. I weighed in on Monday at 147.5. I figured it might have been water retention from the bloody marys I had. I ate pretty well yesterday (not perfect but nothing like at brunch) and drank water and today I am 149, my original weight! I don't understand. I worked so hard to lose that weight and now why is it back from one day of not eating right? I'm doing the south beach diet. Any insight? I"m just so sad to have lost all that progress.
ETA: and AF is not due anytime soon.

I have no idea but this happens to me ALL THE TIME.
I am like 2 lbs away from my PP weight and every time I get close, I end up going up and down in a 3-4 lb range and can never make my goal weight !

What did you eat @ brunch? Any carbs? That is the problem w/ S Beach or any no / low carb diet. It has happened to me a million times. The second I put a piece of bread in my mouth - And yes, it can only be ONE meal - I gain back 3 or 4 lbs !!

Yes, I did have some carbs. But the brunch was my only meal of the day. We didn't have dinner later. Maybe just a few days of strict no carbs (i.e. phase 1) and I"ll go back down. I was on phase 2 though before the brunch, so I am allowed some whole grains. But I was doing only 1 serving per day.

Is this "real" weight gain, or just water weight?

How long have you been on the diet - its very possible that the original weight you loss was water weight and you put that back on.

I just checked back on my calendar and it has been 3 weeks, so not very long at all.

Honestly, this happens to me all the time. On any given day of the week my weight will fluctuate about 5lbs.

To gain 1lb of fat you need to take in an extra 3500 calories (approx) over what you burn - so I dont think its a gain of fat - just water, if you get back on SB you will drop it again!

Eating crappy foods can slow your digestive tract. Try eating high fiber for a couple days and drink lots of water. the weight should go back down. That is the best way I can put it without getting graphic lol
