Interest rates?
Those of you that are trying to buying a home, or have done so recently - what's the best interest rate you've found for a 30-yr fixed, and from what bank? TIA

Re: Interest rates?
We closed at the beginning of May and we locked at 6.5 at Chase. I don't know if that's the best though.

Re: Interest rates?
The Federal Reserve is meeting this week. The new chair will almost certainly raise rates again by a quarter of a point to ease inflation fears. This will be the 17th straight increase in rates.
It was on the CBS 2 business report from this morning.
For those of you debating, you may want to lock in now.

Re: Interest rates?
we are closing in mid July but we are already locked in at 6.25% (but we have to pay 1 point) which still works out to be less $ for us because the best rate we got from the bank was 6.65%
We went through a mtg broker - Captial Funding Group.

Re: Interest rates?
My fear is it will go up to what we can't afford. Right now, we got quoted at 6.75% but we can't lock in because our closing is over 60 days away. Any advice or info. on payiing to keep the rate?

Re: Interest rates?
locked in rate last week or so 6.58 for 30 year fixed. dicounted interest rate for 1st time home buyers.
i think this is high but other banks etc wanted even more so apparently this is "fantastic" right now.

We locked the last week of May and got 6.5%, no points, through Greenpoint Mortgage.
