Not that I want to bring the board down a little more but...

I just got back from the doctor and I have PCOS as well. I'm so suprised and totally bummed.

As a spinoff to Letsmakeababy's post, do you think I should go to a RE at once, or give it a little time first?

ETA i am not "officially" TTC yet, I just got off BCP in July and I was planning on starting to try in a few months as soon as I was regulated. I was thinking of going on clomid as soon as I decide to start TTC but I;m not sure if its necessary to see a RE right away.

TIA

ugh sorry we both got crappy news today.Chat Icon

if you arent ready to try right away i dont think you need to go right to a RE. I also don't know if its 100% necessary to go right away but i think REs might just be more knowledgable than a lot of regular ob/gyns when it comes to PCOS (im sure it depends on the doctor though). My doctor suggested I go see a RE if i am TTC so I am going to have a consult and see what they say.

If i were you and I was TTC... then I would go to an RE for sure.

I'm not much of an OBGYN fan after my own negative experience with one.

i highly recommend going straight to an RE if you aren't ovulating consistently on your own. unless your ob/gyn has a well-monitored fertility plan for you, if you aren't ovulating on your own, and you want to get pregnant sooner rather than later, you should def see an RE.

i had to go to an RE just to get the proper d/x of PCOS. i havent looked back since i made the switch. it was by far the best decision i made with TTC. good luck!!

start going to an RE right away. I'm not TTC yet...but a year or so ago I had some problems with my cycle and then some bloodwork. They sent me to an RE right away because even if u arent ttc, its important you get in control of your body. The insulin resistance should be managed.

I appreciate everone's advice and support. I'm going to try to make an appt with Dr. B asap. DH thinks its a good idea- I don;t know what I'd do without everyone's support on this board! Thanks!

I think you are moving in the right direction. It is better to start and once you are ready to actively TTC then you will be ahead of the game. Good luck! Chat Icon

I suggest that you start seeing a RE even if it's just to learn a little more about your diagnosis and get a game plan going for when you are ready Chat Icon
