Is there a point to BD'ing BEFORE you get a smiley?
Besides for fun, of course! I know you should O between 12-36 hours after a smiley, so I'm confused as to how important it is to BD in the days before your smiley?
I usually get my smiley on CD 14. So far we BD on days 6, 7, 8, 9, (more for fun than for conceiving, I guess), but we skipped day 10 (I passed out early). Now we won't see each other until CD 12! Grrr!
Are CD 12 and 13 as important as smiley day and the two days after?
Someone splain!

I think 13, 14, 15 & 16 would be better days to  if you get  on 14 usually

Yes for me. For the first two months of trying I temped. According to my charts I Oed the day I got my smiley. From all the research I've done, it is most important to before you O. So this month, we chose not to temp, but we before I got my smiley and the day of smiley . For most people, a smiley means you are Oing in 12- 24 hours, but for me it is less than 12 hours.

Yes you should bd before smiley! My doctor told me to bd from cd 8 - 15 for a regular 28 day cycle. I start on cd 7 since my cycle has been 27 days recently.

yes, bc spermies can stay alive for up to like 3 days i think. so if u get your smiley and ovulate within 12 hours then you can still get preggs if u had bd'd the day or 2 before.

Some sources say they can live up to 5 days in the optimum environment. So yeah the couple days before smiley can end up being just as important as the couple days after smiley.

There are a couple of good reasons for this.
1) It's fun
2) Sperm can live for five days in ideal conditions. It's better for them to be hanging out and waiting for the egg.
3) A detects your LH surge, and it usually means you'll O in 24-36 hours. But you might have less time than you think. There were two months where I got my smiley on the day I O'd. (I confirmed this with temping). The month we got pg, I O'd earlier than expected and never got a smiley (didn't know it at the time, but I was testing too late). Had we waited, we would've missed it.
eta: If you aren't going to see each other until CD 12, it's fine... just jump him when you see him!
