how long before TTC did you go off the pill?

we were originally planning to "wing it" after going off the pill, but now I'm worried that we should be leaving more time between going off the pill and TTC. I know people get pregnant right away (and sometimes even ON the pill) but if you were told to wait, please share why! I want to make an informed decision

i wasn't told to wait or not wait - i decided i wanted to wait so i could get an idea of what my cycles were like since i never got my period while on the pill and had no idea what to expect. Although I still don't lol.

you can get pregnant right after going off the pill and there is no harm to the baby if you do....I think the main reason most people wait is because it can take some time for your cycles to regulate after the pill. If you want to have a better idea of when you ovulate and stuff then waiting a few months to regulate your cycle is best, but if your just winging it at first then you can start right way imo.

6 months before we started trying I got off the pill.

DH didnt want to start TTC'in till after the New Year. I explained that it could take a while after I go off BCP for my body to regulate. We compromised that I would stop BCP & start taking Pre natals 3 months b/f TTC and thats what we are doing.

We waited 1 month after I came off the pill.

Im only waiting 2mths..I just cant wait any longer! I think waiting 3+ months is usually just so you body can regulate itself but as PP stated...it does no harm to the baby if you get pregnant right away. At least thats what Ive heard and read.

i haven't been on the pill for nearly 3 years.

I went off just about 2 years before we started TTC. I knew I was going to have issues with my cycles being regular since they never were before and I wanted as much time to get used to that as I could. (Never quite did get used to it or get regular, but it only took us 3 cycles to get PG once we started trying.)

I got pregnant on the pill! I was obviously not trying at the moment and I was on the pill for 7 years straight! Plus I have endometriosis and one working ovary due to scarring and I still had my DS healthy as can be. I believe the only reason they tell you to stop is to regulate your cycle.

My doctor suggested waiting about 3 months, to allow my cycle to regulate, basically so I could track better. I asked her if there was any risk involved if I got pregnant soon after going off BC and she said no. She did mention that there is a great chance in "twining" b/c the extra hormones are still in your system.
