Questions about storing fruit- please answer some possible dumb questions..

I admit I was never one to purchase/snack on fresh fruit until after I became a Mom...

So now I purchase blueberries, bananas, apples and grapes on a regular basis.

I store blueberries and grapes in the fridge, and bananas and apples in a fruit storage basket on the countertop, still in plastic wrap from the grocery..

Is this correct? They all seem to go "bad" pretty quickly though I always buy organic stuff.

If you could help- that would be great. I know I should know this stuff at my age Chat Icon

i always unwrap the plastic from the bananas ... apples I love to be cool in the fridge

blueberries last a good while

organic fruit will go bad fast in general - it's not pumped up with the stuff to make it last a while - so it goes bad faster (as it should)

organic fruit is usually smaller, too.. (as it should be , naturally)

hope that helps!!

I would also try keeping your apples in the fridge. I can keep organic apples for a couple of weeks-make sure they are not bruised when you buy them. Blueberries can last a week or so. Rasberries maybe 3 days. The only fruit I store out is banannas

I bought these from tupperware and they are awesome. Fruit/veggies last 2-3X as long.

berries last longer if you hold off washing them until you are going to eat them
