Re: a few (really dumb) questions about going to a sprinkler park

1. No...but you might get a little wet....not soaked.

2. Swim diaper is fine but most little ones have bathing suits on (from my observation).

3. The one we go to have cushioing so water shoes would not be necessary.

4. Usually the water isn't too cold---I believe it is recirculated. Your DS will probably love it.Chat Icon

Re: a few (really dumb) questions about going to a sprinkler park

1. do i need to wear a bathing suit? Since you'll be playing with him, a bathing suit may be a good idea. I didn't wear one, but I did get pretty wet.

2. will DS be okay in just a swim diaper or does he need swim trunks too? I'd stick a suit on over the diaper.

3. DS is standing assisted but not yet walking. does he need water shoes? Some kids had them on, and some didn't. At Venetian Shores, the ground is nice enough that you didn't need them, and since he's not walking, I wouldn't bother.

4. how cold is the water? is my DS going to hate me? Its not heated, so its like playing with a hose/sprinkler. My kids didn't love the force of the water. They didn't seem to mind the temp.

Re: a few (really dumb) questions about going to a sprinkler park

You don't need a bathing suit, but I would recommend one....you will get very wet.

DS would be fine in just a swim diaper.

I usually have water shoes on DD, but I have been in the sprinkler park without them. So I don't think it is a necessity, especially since he isn't walking yet.

The water can be kind of cold, but not freezing. You get use to it after a little bit.

Re: a few (really dumb) questions about going to a sprinkler park

I went to my very first sprinkler park for the first time a few weeks ago. I had no idea they even existed!

Basically, there were kids running around everywhere! I will be honest, if DS wasn't walking on his own, I probably would not have gone with him.

He wore his swim diaper with a bathing suit and a rash guard shirt (to prevent the sun from getting to him).

The water was pretty chilly.

Since DS is a running fool, he was wearing water shoes and I did not have to get wet. I just watched him from the outskirts of the sprinkler area.

I am not sure what it's like where you are going, but it is just all colored pavement with the water coming down. If DS is not walking, you are either going to get wet with him or he is going to be crawling on the concrete. Like I said, personal choice but I probably wouldn't go with a child who doesn't walk on their own. Too many bigger kids running around.

Re: a few (really dumb) questions about going to a sprinkler park

i would DEFINITELY wear a bathing suit!! i get soaked every time i go! Chat Icon

i would put him in a bathing suit since all the other kids are in them. he'd be fine in just a swimmy diaper, but i've never seen a kid in just one.

DS never wears shoes there even though he's walking.

honestly, the one by me is COLD! we just make sure we go on hot days.

DS loves ours, even though the sprinklers are kind of big for him. have a great time!Chat Icon

Re: a few (really dumb) questions about going to a sprinkler park

I'll answer you from what I am doing.

1. do i need to wear a bathing suit? I am wearing one under my outfit and bringing something to change into. No one wants to see my left over flab.

2. will DS be okay in just a swim diaper or does he need swim trunks too? He'll be wearing a swim diaper, trunks and a rash guard to protect from the sun.

3. DS is standing assisted but not yet walking. does he need water shoes? DS will not be wearing water shoes-couldn't find them in his size. I'll be holding him, or walking him so I'll watch where he steps.

4. how cold is the water? is my DS going to hate me? Chat Icon Probably pretty cold. He might hate you at first, just like I'm sure Ds will hate me. Chat Icon

Water shoes or sandals are a good idea. The surface has been really hot at a few sprinkler parks I've been to. The wet area isn't a problem, but there is usually a large area around that which could hurt if there is direct sunlight. I've never bothered with a bathing suit but I've dressed for the possibility of getting soaked (no white t-shirts!)

I would put a bathing suit on him. At some there are signs, no diapers, even swim ones, but of course I have seen a million kids with them on and I dont think its enforced at all, but why chance it, put something over it.

HAVE FUN!

Wear a bathing suit, you'll def. get wet. I had shorts and a bathing suit top on and I was soaked.

Put a suit on him.

Bring buckets and stuff for him to play with - I had to buy Jack a .99 cent bucket for 5 bucks because he wanted one.

Also - bring a chair to sit in, we got there at 10:20 and they were all gone.

i have never been so please don't make fun of me for asking these questions

1. do i need to wear a bathing suit?

I didn't last time and regretted it.

2. will DS be okay in just a swim diaper or does he need swim trunks too?
I would put on swim trunks if he has them.

3. DS is standing assisted but not yet walking. does he need water shoes?
DD does not have water shoes. I will however have her cheap sandals with me.

4. how cold is the water? is my DS going to hate me?
It is like the water that comes from your hose. I think the pressure is more what is odd to them at first.
